Residue Free & Organic Mission India Federation (ROMIF INDIA)
Residue Free & Organic Mission India Federation (ROMIF INDIA) has been doing revolutionary work in the fields of residue-free and organic farming practices since 2016. Our mission statement is “One revolutionary step towards sustainable farming, health and environment.” ROMIF INDIA works at state, national and international levels to impart technology for residue-free and organic farming to farmers and to promote sustainable agriculture, food safety and environmental health among farmers, students and consumers.
Background of Establishment
The movement began as a social media initiative in 2015 named the “Global Organic Movement”, started by Dr. Prashant Naikwadi with support from social reformers, certification agencies, agricultural professors and many stakeholders — farmers, producers, technical personnel, entrepreneurs, vendors, consumers and students. These experts organised the first state-level organic program for tribal farmers in Akole Tehsil, Maharashtra on 31st July 2016, jointly with General Mills and BIAF Mitra, which played a pivotal role in spreading awareness of residue-free and organic farming among farming communities.
Our Mission
To promote residue-free and organic farming practices across India and internationally, ensuring food safety, public health and environmental sustainability. ROMIF INDIA provides technical guidance, training, exhibitions, demonstrations and study tours to help farmers adopt viable organic practices. We support certification awareness and traceability (NPOP / PGS India / GlobalGAP) and work to develop practical systems of practice for commercial crops through education, research and extension activities.
Our Vision
To create a people’s movement around residue-free and organic farming based on the belief that access to poison-free food is a fundamental right. ROMIF INDIA envisions mainstreaming sustainable farming, conserving traditional seeds and biodiversity, enabling fair premium pricing for farmers, and forging international technical partnerships (e.g., IFOAM, FIBL, OMRI) to bring global best practices to local farmers while combating fraudulent organic practices.
